I love how you distilled and combined those thoughts to create "I think one’s daily mood is also a complex foamy mixture, which we endeavor more or less successfully to turn into a palatable broth."

Perfectly put. Right now, the broth doesn't feel palatable. It is early in the day, I should be working but instead I am distracting myself on Substack and catching up on some reads. I'm hoping that some time spent doing this will allow my brain to locate the correct ingredients to sweeten the broth and make it more palatable.

Happy birthday, Mason. Hope you enjoyed leaning in to Van Gogh's advice!

I enjoyed reading about this artist, although I could tell it was way over my head! But I love art and writing so I worked my way through it, and I'm glad that I did. I will have to watch that video you posted about her art and life.

I had never heard of Maria Lassnig, so will need to do some research.

Also, I turned 55 yesterday on the 20th, so birthday "twins".

Hello, thank you for your last piece of writing. Excellent. And happy birthday. I wondered. Was it you that said we should think seriously about the book that influence does most, and then apply apply using that form you devised to submit our choice. Sorry if it wasn’t you. I did think I bookmarked it and downloaded it, but I have lost it. And have a book to nominate. Warmest
